allietheresa sent: Hello! Your art is wonderful! I was wondering- how do you get your drawings to be so dynamic? Your characters all have a lot of movement going on, and they have so much life. My sketches tend to look static, even when the characters are in motion. :/ Do you have any advice? Thanks!! (Also, you should post a pic of your shiba! I bet she's adorable!)

Heyo!

For your drawings to be dynamic, you really want to emphasise the energy within a drawing. Life/Gesture drawing is probably one of the best ways to learn how to draw dynamically. Draw where and how the curves work, the movement of the body and its weight.

My routines whenever I go into the city are to do 1 minute or less sketches of passerbys and people around. So a bit like a life drawing session but with constantly changing subjects haha.

These are from going to the playground.  Excuse the terrible scanning and photoshopping. Light was on me so I could barely move *cough got distracted*

I find that going to playgrounds or parks are better since there are usually kids playing around. They are bundles of energy. Though that makes me look creepier if I didn’t have Shibe with me

You want to have with more curved lines rather than straights. Loosen yourself. Really push the character, their movement and their gestures.

A lot of grizandnorm's posts go through this: Here, here and here

In short, I can only advise to draw with more curves, and bends. Look at your own body and see how you move and what happens. Look at others, see how they move and try doing some quick sketches to build up confidence.

Heya!

Thanks you! Like 99% of my work is done in Photoshop haha. Everything else is graphite/pen sketches.

Cheers!

Dropped these off today! One is in JB HiFi , Bourke St, one is in the Little Library in Melbourne Central, near the food court in Melbourne Central and one is between the Emporium and Melbourne Central !

Dropping these sketches around Melbourne! If you’re here„ be on the lookout!

Violet for #7daysofcolor ! Tried mixing my style with all the things I had learnt this week!
One of my biggest wishes is that I can travel all over the world with Light and experience everything, especially Japan together.I know this may sound corny but I never want to have a day without Light in my life. Even if she is a little stubborn, cheeky and aloof, I want to wake up and see her everyday and be able to hug her everyday. Cause well, she is the Light in my life~ Thanks for the 7 days! Hope you enjoyed!

Redoing Indigo for #7daysofcolor since the last one felt out of place in the series. I wonder if Light thinks about the wild and chasing rabbits and all that. At least I used the right colours this time amirite?

Indigo for #7daysofcolor . A bit more experimental and different than the others but I wanted to get the idea out of my head. Was up all night thinking up a story of a Shiba Inu who travels around Japan to save the 6 original Japanese breeds from extinction while learning more about the value of life and differences.
It came up when I was researching up about how the 6 original dog breeds of Japan were nearly wiped out after WW2 because of food shortages, foreign breeding (which can be seen by the Tosa and the American Akita) and confiscation of the breeds by the military/police.
But yeah, I’d love to work on this character a bit more.

A bit late for today’s 7 days of colors. Those green and bright spring days where we laid down on the warm grass together
